Cuentan en KDE Hispano que se ha Lanzado Amarok 2.0: «El mundo de la administración de la música digital ha cambiado bastante desde el nacimiento de Amarok hace 4 años y medio atrás. Amarok 1 estableció su reputación por innovación, pero mantener el desarrollo con el framework anterior se volvió más dificil a medida que Amarok crecía, a veces en formas que nunca imaginamos. KDE4 trajo muchas nuevas tecnologías y patrones de diseño, y decidimos usar esta oportunidad para mejorar por sobre el diseño original de Amarok. Pensamos sobre como diseñar mejor un programa que nos permitiría estar a la vanguardia de la administración de música digital. También buscamos distinguir Amarok en un saturado mercado de reproductores de música. Para conseguir esto tomamos las mejores ideas de la serie 1.x, y realizamos una lluvia de ideas sobre que hacer para que nuestros usuarios “redescubrieran la música”».
