Novedades en Kernel 2.6.30

Los desarrolladores del kernel linux, han añadido miles de nuevas características al kernel de Linux existente integrado los ya numerosos drivers existentes e integrando muchisimos drivers mas. Esto aumenta aún más la variedad de hardware soportado por Linux.

Hace unos días, Linus Torvalds publicó la séptima Release de Linux 2.6.30 Release Candidate. Según Torvalds, la mayoría de los cambios son menores, y la próxima gran versión del núcleo está a punto de concluir – aunque todavía les falta un poco, Torvalds anticipo una octavo release candidate. Se ha aprovechado esta oportunidad para examinar qué hay de nuevo en los drivers de Linux 2.6.30, la última versión del núcleo que probablemente sera puesto en libertad en algunas semanas mas.

Portátiles y dispositivos de entrada

Nuevo en Linux 2.6.30 es la dell-wmi driver, aunque actualmente sólo envía los eventos de teclas en portátiles Dell. La portátil de Sony-y-thinkpad acpi drivers han sido objeto de una reestructuración importante – la más antigua es ahora compatible con los modelos de portátil y tipos de eventos, mientras que el segundo ofrece un mayor control de brillo para ThinkPads. Los controladores de dispositivos de entrada USB (HIDS / Human Interface Devices) ahora ofrecen autosuspend funcionalidad, que puede mejorar ligeramente la duración de la batería de portátiles.
